Sweden and her interesting traditions – Ascension PLUS Cow Release Day!

Happy Thursday! Or better yet Happy Ascension Day (translated to Christ flies to Heaven Day in Sweden). For being such a non religious country, I have never lived in a place where more religious holidays are observed. Read: Free day off from work.

The weather has been absolutely unbelievable recently and today was no exception. We took a day trip out to Uppsala which is about an hour and 15 minutes away from where we live.

We had reserved a spot at a Cow Release (Ko Släpp). Literally. Always fun to show our US family something they’ve never experienced before. The cows haven’t been outside since last October. The farmers make a big deal of it and people come from all over to see the release. People bring blankets, food, stay for hours.

Its like a rock concert! So many people waiting to see the 135 cows come out.

It is a fun event and the cows are like small children coming outside in the sunshine for the first time.  Jumping around and loving life. Makes me smile just thinking about it now.

The HUGE milking cows come out of the barn and you don’t know how they are going to act. They might be shy, they might be excited. This is what it looked like when they came out for the first time this year:

After seeing the cows frolicking, we drove to downtown Uppsala for a lunch at an awesome restaurant called Frenchi. Yummy tempura battered cod and tuna burgers went down nicely while sitting in the sun on the terrace.

Side note: Our best friends Tim and Bob moved to Sweden from the US one year ago. Its so fun to experience these VERY Swedish traditions together. Seeing Sweden through someone elses eyes always reminds me how beautiful it is here.

You tend to get “Hemma Blind”  (home blind).

Here are some pics from today, enjoy.

To bring it back around to why I share things like this with you.

You might ask why does a NEWLY CERTIFIED LIFE COACH (WOOT WOOT) share stories like this? What does this have to do with Life Coaching? How are you supposed to learn something from this that you can apply in your own life?

What you get out of my life stories is up to you. I share MYSELF and my heart with you because I want you to get to know me for the person that I am.

When you hire me to help you as your Life Coach then you will know what type of person it is that you will be working with.

What you see is what you get.

Straight shooter. Lover of life.

I enjoy the small moments in life the most.

I take the small moments and create them to magical moments.

Do you? If not, you want me to help you?

It would be my honour.

Best,

Åsa
