Shadows and transparency – do you like who you see in your reflection?

Transparency. Are you being transparent in your life? How does this word even apply to you?

“When you’re transparent, you invite trust by revealing that you have nothing to hide. You establish yourself as an honest, credible person in the eyes of others. The prospect of being open and vulnerable may make you nervous, but the digital revolution has made transparency a matter of survival. – Expose Yourself: The Importance of Being Transparent, LinkedIn, John Hall, published Feb 3, 2014

How can you be more transparent and reflective in your own life and recognize your shadow sides?

We all have them so do you look at yours?

I know something is up for me when I am being triggered negatively by others around me.

Why am I being triggered and what is happening to create the in-balance inside of me?

I have my thoughts as to why I do this and it might hold true for you too.

Old wounds. Never healed wounds. Bumping up against them and when people bug the crap out of me, its because I see myself in them. A mirror of myself. Usually one of my ugly personality traits that I try to hide from the world. #shame #notenough #feelingsofnotbelonging #misfitinlife

Facing those dark sides and starting to work on them instead of hiding from them, tough stuff but WOW so healing!!

Some questions you might want to ask yourself:

  • What can I learn here?
  • Do I have some sort of attachment to how things USED to be?
  • What can I change here and now?
  • Why do I repeat patterns? If you do repeat patterns (which I am guessing you do) ask yourself if you want to KEEP repeating those patterns.

Are you purposely sabotaging yourself? Setting yourself and others up to fail? How can you STOP this behaviour and change it for good?

ASK FOR HELP!

We hide our stories so deeply inside of ourselves that we repeat things that we hate about ourselves simply out of old habits.

The good news, these behaviours and habits CAN be changed when we look at them!

Just like parting your hair on the left side, you can start parting it in the middle or the right side. Will feel totally weird at first but IT IS POSSIBLE TO CHANGE! The question again… DO YOU WANT TO?

Lots of resources about shadow work on line. Research it if it interests you and reach out to me if you want to work on yours.

I thought this article was interesting on the topic:  https://scottjeffrey.com/shadow-work/

Is it time to change where you part your hair? I know I am looking at moving mine around!! 🙂
